A: Your son is under the leadership of his Scoutmaster and Assistants with 45 members of the Camp Staff providing additional supervision. We are in our 59th year and the Key 3 Camp Staff Leadership have been at camp an average of 30 years each. Our NYS Health Dept Safety Plan has been a model for other camps and we consistently exceed all standards of the Boy Scouts of America.
A: Yes, we have Scout leaders who volunteer each week to accept boys into their own Troop or lead a group of independent boys in a Provisional Troop.
A: We average 140 boys, 30 Scout Leaders and 45 Camp Staff in camp every week. In the off season we average 2 Troops each week for Weekend Camping.
A: Yes, camp is open to the public year round. People visit to fish, hike trails and cross country ski. We set up tents in June and open buildings at the end of June. Anytime for the next 7 weeks is a good time to visit to see summer camp in operation and meet the staff.
A: Check the “camp reminders” with your unit leader to get our suggestions for scheduling a Scout. With 3 periods during the day we hope a Scout completes easily one merit badge , is challenged by another merit badge (or rank), and has a more difficult one that may take a second year or time back in his troop in September.
Fishing, hiking, COPE, sports and theme competitions, trying something new during free time and making new friends also becomes an important part of a boys program week.
